1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Devotion ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Devotion is an AI-powered Christian faith companion that provides Scripture-grounded guidance, prayer journaling, Bible search, and daily devotionals. The App is designed to complement, not replace, pastoral counselling, professional therapy, or medical advice.
3. User Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the App
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and account
- You agree to provide accurate information during onboarding
- You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their consent
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to manipulate, abuse, or exploit the AI system
- Use the App to generate content that is harmful, hateful, or contrary to the App's purpose
- Attempt to circumvent safety measures or theological validation
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
5. AI Disclaimer
Devotion uses artificial intelligence to generate responses. While every response passes through a theological validation system, please be aware that:
- AI-generated responses are for spiritual guidance and reflection only
- Responses are not infallible and should not be treated as authoritative theological doctrine
- Always consult Scripture directly and seek pastoral leadership for major spiritual decisions
- The App does not represent any specific church, denomination, or theological institution
6. Crisis Situations
Devotion is not a crisis service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis:
- Call emergency services (911) immediately
- Contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988
- Text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line
While the App provides crisis resources when distress is detected, it is not a substitute for professional crisis intervention.
7. Intellectual Property
- King James Version (KJV) Scripture text is in the public domain
- The App's design, branding, AI models, and proprietary content are owned by Devotion
- You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the App without permission
8. Subscriptions & Payments
- The App offers a free tier with daily usage limits and a Pro subscription with expanded features
- Subscriptions are managed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
- Refund policies are governed by the respective platform's terms
- We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable notice
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these terms, abuse the AI system, or engage in behaviour that is harmful to other users or the service.
10. Limitation of Liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Devotion shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to spiritual, emotional, or psychological outcomes.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will notify users of significant changes through the App.
