These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Devotion application and its associated services. Please read them carefully before using the App.
By downloading, installing, or using the Devotion application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Devotion is a Christian faith companion app that provides Scripture-grounded spiritual guidance, daily devotionals, prayer journaling, Bible search, faith journeys, games, and church community features. The App uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised responses, devotionals, and reflections.
Devotion uses AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude) to generate spiritual guidance, devotionals, prayer prompts, and reflections. Devotionals, faith journeys, and church-authored content (like sermon reflections) always pass through a two-agent generate-then-validate system before publishing, checking each piece against Scripture and doctrine. In conversation with your spiritual guide, a second AI agent independently reviews responses for theological accuracy and safety in the conversations most likely to need it: the start of a new conversation, any message that raises a safety concern, and conversations touching sensitive theological topics. AI-generated content should not be considered a substitute for professional pastoral counselling, therapy, or medical advice. In crisis situations, the App will direct you to professional crisis resources. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated content for any particular purpose.
You may use the App anonymously or create an account via email, Google, or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you should use the App with parental or guardian consent.
Devotion offers a free tier and a Pro subscription for individuals, and both a free Community tier (for churches with up to 25 members) and paid plans for churches. The free tier includes limited daily guided prayers, scripture quizzes, wallpapers, and core features. Pro unlocks unlimited access to all features including additional prayers, quizzes, wallpapers, cloud sync, and premium content. Individual subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store; billing, renewals, and cancellations follow the respective store's policies, and no refunds are provided for individual store-managed subscriptions except as required by applicable law or store policy. Church plans are billed through our payment processor (Stripe) and begin with a 7-day free trial. Church plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee: if you cancel within 30 days of your first payment, we will refund that payment in full. You may cancel a church plan at any time with no contract or cancellation fee. Prices may change with reasonable notice.
Churches can create branded community spaces within the App. Church administrators are responsible for content posted through their church portal, including sermons, announcements, events, and devotionals. Members who join a church community agree to abide by that church's community guidelines in addition to these terms. Church administrators may approve or deny membership requests and manage member access.
You may submit content through community posts, comments, prayer wall posts, small-group discussions and prayers, direct messages, prayer journal entries, and sermon reflections. You retain ownership of your content but grant Devotion a limited licence to process, store, and display it within the App as necessary to provide the service. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users: you agree not to post content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or illegal, and not to harass, bully, or abuse other members. You can report objectionable content and block abusive users from within the App, and submissions are screened for hate speech at the point of posting. Reported content is reviewed and, where it violates these terms, removed — and the offending user removed or suspended — within 24 hours. We reserve the right to remove content and to suspend or remove users who violate these terms. Anonymous prayer wall posts hide your name from other members but remain visible to your church's leaders.
You agree not to: attempt to manipulate or abuse the AI system through prompt injection or adversarial inputs; use the App to generate content that contradicts its intended purpose as a faith companion; share your account credentials with others; use automated tools to access the App; interfere with the App's operation or other users' experience; attempt to reverse-engineer the App or its AI systems.
The App, its design, branding, code, and original content are owned by Devotion. Bible translations used (KJV, WEB) are in the public domain. AI-generated content created for you through the App is provided for your personal use. The Devotion name, logo, and associated branding are our intellectual property.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available at holydevotion.app/privacy. By using the App, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Devotion is not a church, religious organisation, or licensed counselling service. Content provided through the App, including AI-generated guidance, does not constitute professional advice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on content provided through the App.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Devotion and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to emotional distress, loss of data, or reliance on AI-generated content.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may stop using the App at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases. Data stored locally on your device remains yours. Server-side data will be deleted upon request.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.
